As per different figures and regular studies, there are more than 20 websites that are hacked every week by hackers only in Ireland. This is very alarming and eye opening situation for normal users as well as for small and medium enterprises. These experts in different portfolios of web hosting business advised the entrepreneurs and business groups to take serious measures to cope with this alarming conditions pertaining to web hosting security issues.
As per independent research of zone-h.org, it is almost every day when web addresses are defaced. Zone-h.org is an independent body that records web attacks on websites.
IRISSCERT which is a voluntary security response group records the phishing attacks carried out on the websites in this area. As per its record 408 websites were hijacked for hosting phishing sites, which are hosted on the behalf of cyber criminals.
“In many cases, business owners aren’t aware of the risks when going online and choosing a web-hosting provider; they’re may be looking for a cheap deal and they don’t know the questions to ask,” said Sean Reynolds, founder and CEO of security consultants Ritz. He further said, “Many senior managers wrongly perceive IT security spending as a form of insurance. They should be looking at it from a risk perspective (and ask) – what can go wrong? Then they should ask: is this something we’re concerned about?”
