Greatresponder.com – 2011-07-22 - On Tuesday, the web hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies has made the announcement of its new high-availability dedicated firewalls to its firewall security services. The web hosting provider previously and still does, offer to their costumer’s standard firewalls and dedicated hardware firewalls.
Softlayer’s spokesmen say that the firewalls were created to protect from malicious activity. Furthermore, the firewalls were also made with a secondary physical firewall for failover protection as well as an automatic fall back. Those firewalls are for when the primary firewall regains service.
This announcement was made barely a week after the web hosting company completed effectively its SSAE 16 audit. According to the announcement, the clients of SoftLayer now have a new option. This new option being is to add the new service to their current cloud, dedicated or virtual systems that share the same virtual local area network or a new one.
“High-Availability Dedicated Firewalls provide our customers with greater peace of mind,” says the vice president of systems development and technology at SoftLayer, Matt Chilek, in a statement. “Unfortunately, malicious network activity can happen to anyone, so we’re dedicated to providing our customers with the best protection possible so they can focus on their business and not worry about the security of their infrastructure.”
According to SoftLayer, their new firewalls stand between the entire VLAN and the Public Network. The new firewalls are meant to protect the servers according to analysis and filtering all network traffic. The web hosting company customers can organize firewall locations for the entire VLAN and for individual systems as well.
