Enterprise OpenStack Grade Object Storage From Cloudian

CLOUDIAN, INC.Using Intel® Atom™ C2000 processor, Cloudian cloud storage software provide very low power and high density cloud storage by working with Penguin Computing and Intel.

Greatresponder.com – Object storage provider Cloudian announced its effort with two partners Penguin Computing and Intel to provide object storage product as a bundled solution for Cloud OpenStack users. They are now supporting S3 APIs, The product has great elasticity, and is well integrated with OpenStack’s Nova cloud computing, Penguin Computing that built Glance, Horizon, and Keystone now has a new scale-out and multi-datacenter for  low power consumption and bring a high storage density, This will enable the Intel® Atom™ 64-bit C2000 processor’s to work very efficient. This system will be provided to users by using Penguin’s global network. The software is also available for users to be used on their own hardware servers.

Michael Tso the founder and CEO of Cloudian said “We are excited to work with Penguin Computing and Intel to deliver our carrier grade storage on OpenStack, which precisely addresses the demands of our customers,” he also added “Penguin’s deep enterprise expertise coupled with Intel’s Atom C2000 processors offers industry leading efficiencies at a competitive price. The solution significantly eases the barriers for the adoption of OpenStack in the enterprise.”

Bev Crair, The General Manager of Intel’s Storage Division said “Businesses are seeking turnkey, enterprise-grade, OpenStack solutions as they transition workloads to the cloud” and he also added “To meet this growing demand, Cloudian and Penguin Computing have created a solution that takes advantage of the 64-bit architecture, 5X performance increase over our prior generation, and 50% lower power offered by the Intel Atom C2000 processor. This solution helps customers rapidly deploy large scale, high-density cloud implementations.”

With this new addition, Cloudian enters the OpenStack cloud computing. It is worth saying here that Cloudian’s software is used in a big scale in an enterprise production environments in many data centers for about three years. Customers like NTT, LunaCloud, and many others in the U.S., Europe, and Asia are a big users of this system. And as of now Cloudian enters the OpenStack cloud computing that shows the strong demand for hardened systems at a low prices. Cloudian turnkey cloud storage is based on the Intel Atom C2000 processor family introduce a good opportunity to the OpenStack cloud computing envirement.

CEO of Penguin Computing, Charles Wuischpard said “Power, cooling and manageability are the biggest challenges faced by modern datacenters and the enterprise. The decision to combine Intel’s Atom C2000 processor family with Cloudian’s massively scalable and S3 compatible object store running on OpenStack was near instant,” he also said “The solution is an ideal platform for service providers, the enterprise, and SMBs alike.”
